Living on unsteady ground
Turning in bed and the ceiling tilts. Standing up from a chair with a hand ready on the wall. Crowded markets, escalators, even scrolling a phone — all quietly avoided. And beneath the spinning, a newer fear: what if it happens outside, alone? Vertigo shrinks confidence faster than almost any symptom — which is why treating it means treating both the balance system and the fear it has created.
What’s really behind the spinning
The threads we most often find: a stiff, strained neck from desk and phone posture — cervical tension is one of the most overlooked dizziness drivers; inner-ear causes like BPPV, which your ENT can diagnose and often relieve quickly; low hydration and skipped meals dropping blood pressure and sugar; vitamin B12 and iron gaps; poor sleep leaving the balance system uncalibrated; and anxiety with shallow, fast breathing — which creates dizziness and then feeds on it. Most people carry two or three of these at once. That’s why single-pill fixes disappoint.

Hydration, iron and B12 — balance begins with what fuels the system.
The natural approach at Prahana Health
Dr. Deepshikha Gaur, BNYS, works on the drivers within lifestyle’s reach: gentle neck-release and posture work for cervical tension; hydration, meal-timing and nutrition correction; slow-breathing training that steadies both dizziness and the fear of it; sleep repair; balance-confidence practices reintroduced gradually; and calming Marma therapy. Where the pattern suggests an inner-ear cause like BPPV or Meniere’s, we’ll guide you to ENT evaluation first — the two paths work best in coordination, alongside any medication you’ve been prescribed.
Vertigo often overlaps with cervical spondylitis, migraine and anxiety. A root-cause plan addresses them together.
What patients report
Patients who follow their plans consistently commonly report fewer spinning episodes, steadier mornings and more confidence moving through the day — with their ENT’s or neurologist’s treatment continuing exactly as prescribed.

Why does vertigo return in a stressful week?
Many people tell me the same story. The spinning had quietened for weeks, and then came a hard stretch — a deadline, an unwell parent at home, a month of bad news — and the unsteadiness was back. You are not imagining the link. Balance and the stress response share a good deal of the same wiring. When we are tense, breathing turns shallow and fast, and over-breathing lowers carbon dioxide in the blood enough to leave many people light-headed on its own, quite apart from what the inner ear is doing. A worried brain also keeps watch for the next wobble, so ordinary head movements start to feel unsafe, and we brace, and the neck stiffens, and the dizziness has more to hold on to.
So the work is less about fighting the spin and more about lowering the volume around it. Three or four times a day, sit down and breathe in through the nose for a count of four, then let the breath out slowly for six or seven — an exhale longer than the inhale gently engages the body’s rest-and-digest side, and most patients feel their head settle within a few minutes. Keep meals at steady hours through the festival weeks; a skipped lunch or a long fast leaves you dehydrated and low on fuel, which is its own kind of dizziness. Sleep at roughly the same time each night, because the brain does much of its balance re-learning while you rest. And if the room spins when you turn over in bed or tip your head back, do mention it plainly to your doctor — a simple positional examination often explains a great deal.

Your questions, answered
When is dizziness an emergency?
Seek immediate medical care if vertigo comes with slurred speech, double vision, weakness or numbness of the face or limbs, severe sudden headache, chest pain or fainting — these need urgent hospital evaluation first, not naturopathy.
My doctor said it’s BPPV. Can you help?
BPPV is best relieved by specific repositioning manoeuvres done by your ENT or trained physiotherapist — please complete that first. Our work then supports what keeps episodes returning: neck tension, sleep, hydration and stress.
I take vertigo tablets. Should I stop them?
No — continue as prescribed. As episodes reduce, your doctor reviews the medication. That decision always belongs to your treating doctor.
How soon do episodes usually reduce?
Hydration, breathing and neck work often bring changes within 2–4 weeks; fuller stability builds over 6–8 weeks of consistency. Results vary from person to person.
