Living at half battery

Waking tired after a full night’s sleep. Hair on the pillow, on the comb, on the floor. Feeling cold when everyone else is fine. Brain fog that makes simple things heavy, a mood that dips for no reason, digestion that has slowed to a crawl — and a weighing scale that ignores every effort. Many people are told their “TSH is under control” while none of this improves. If that’s you, you’re not imagining it: control on paper is not the same as a body that has its energy back.

What’s really slowing you down

The thyroid rarely fails alone. The threads we most often find underneath: a disturbed gut that interferes with hormone conversion and absorption; chronic inflammation from processed food; stress hormones that directly suppress thyroid function; nutrient gaps in everyday diets; sleep debt that deepens the fatigue; and, for many women, overlapping hormonal patterns like PCOD. Address these threads together, and the same medicine your doctor prescribed often finally gets a body it can work with.

Warm idli and sambar — nourishing, easily digested everyday food that supports thyroid health

A thyroid can only work with the nourishment it’s given — food is where we begin.

The natural approach at Prahana Health

Dr. Deepshikha Gaur, BNYS, works on the terrain your thyroid lives in: thyroid-supportive therapeutic food from your own kitchen; gut restoration; stress-hormone work through breath and rhythm; sleep correction; gentle strength movement; and supportive Marma therapy. Everything runs alongside your endocrinologist’s treatment — never stop or change thyroid medication on your own; dose reviews always happen through your doctor with fresh reports.

Thyroid trouble rarely travels alone — it often overlaps with PCOD/PCOS, weight struggles, cholesterol & fatty liver and fertility concerns. A root-cause plan addresses them together.

Your thyroid report is normal — so why do you still feel so tired?

This is one of the most common things I hear in the thyroid consultations at the clinic. The tablet is being taken faithfully, the TSH has settled into range, and yet the heaviness in the mornings has not lifted. Please hear this first: you are not imagining it, and you are not being difficult. A thyroid number tells us about one gland; it does not tell us how the rest of you is coping. And chronic stress is a real load on that system. When the body has been running on alert for months — a difficult stretch at work, a family member unwell, money worries carried quietly — it tends to dial down its non-urgent housekeeping. Less of the storage hormone T4 gets converted into the active form, T3, that your cells actually use, and sleep, digestion and mood all feel it.

The work, then, is to take the alarm down a few notches, patiently. Pick one anchor and hold it for three weeks before adding anything else. Most often I suggest ten quiet minutes in the morning before the phone comes on — sit, breathe with a long slow exhale, let the shoulders and jaw loosen. Eat at roughly the same times each day; the body reads regular meals as safety. Walk in the softer light of early evening rather than pushing through a punishing workout when you are already depleted. Through Navratri, when the garba goes late and the days stay full, protect your sleep window even if you join only the first hour — rest is not laziness here, it is treatment. Thyroid healing moves at its own pace, and steadiness does more for it than intensity.

Your questions, answered

Should I stop my thyroid tablet?

No — never on your own. Our work runs alongside your prescription. As your reports improve, your treating doctor reviews the dose with fresh tests. That decision always belongs to your doctor.

Is this for hypothyroid or hyperthyroid?

The food-gut-stress-sleep foundation supports both patterns, but the plans differ significantly — share your reports on WhatsApp and the plan is built for your specific pattern, in coordination with your doctor.

Will my hair grow back?

Hair responds once the underlying pattern settles — typically among the later improvements, over months rather than weeks, because hair grows in slow cycles. Nutrition support specifically targets this. Results vary from person to person.

How soon will I feel different?

Energy, digestion and sleep usually move first — within 3–6 weeks of consistency. Lab changes are reviewed at your next scheduled test. Results vary from person to person.
