Dr. Deepshikha Gaur, BNYS · clearing the congested naturally for 10+ years
Life at half-breath
Waking with a face that feels full of wet cement. Pressure behind the eyes and cheekbones, a voice that sounds underwater, tissues everywhere, and that maddening drip down the back of the throat. Weather changes felt in the forehead, food that has lost half its taste, and antibiotics-decongestant cycles that clear one episode and hand you the next. When breathing itself is heavy, everything is heavy — sleep, focus, mood. This deserves better than another round of the same.
What keeps the sinuses blocked
Sinuses are drainage channels — they stay healthy when they stay open and moving. The threads we most often find: allergies to dust, pollen or mould keeping the lining permanently swollen; dry indoor air and low hydration thickening mucus until it can’t drain; cold, heavy, mucus-forming food patterns; a habit of shallow mouth-breathing; acid reflux irritating the throat and post-nasal pathways at night; structural issues like a deviated septum (which your ENT identifies); and immunity worn down by poor sleep and stress. Congestion is the symptom. Swelling, thick mucus and blocked drainage are the story.

Warm, light and hydrating — food can thin what medicine keeps chasing.
The natural approach at Prahana Health
Dr. Deepshikha Gaur, BNYS, works on opening, thinning and strengthening: steam and saline-rinse routines done correctly and safely; hydration and warm, light, anti-inflammatory food that stops feeding the mucus; allergy and trigger strategy for your home and season; breathing training — including retraining the mouth-breathing habit; sleep-position and reflux correction for the night-time drip; and immunity building so each winter meets a stronger you. Where your ENT has found structural issues or prescribed sprays and treatment, everything here runs alongside — the two paths clear the head faster together.
Sinus trouble often overlaps with headaches and migraine, recurring cough, acid reflux and broken sleep. A root-cause plan addresses them together.
What patients report
Patients who follow their plans consistently commonly report clearer mornings, fewer season-change flare-ups and less dependence on decongestants — with any prescribed treatment continuing as their doctor advises.
“Her approach is completely different, she doesn’t just treat symptoms but helps you understand your body, your lifestyle, and the root cause of health issues… She patiently listens to every concern, gives proper time, and explains everything in detail.”

Why does sinusitis feel heaviest in the first hour of the morning?
You wake with a blocked nose, a dull weight behind the forehead and cheeks, and a run of sneezes before you have even spoken to anyone. Then by mid-morning it eases a little, and you wonder why mornings are always the hardest. The explanation is simple enough. Lying flat all night, gravity stops helping your sinuses drain, so secretions settle rather than move on. The fine hair-like cilia that sweep mucus along work more slowly in dry, still, cool air — and a fan or air conditioner running through the night dries the nasal lining further. Nothing new has gone wrong; the night has simply let things pool.
Which means the morning is also where you have the most leverage. Raise the head end of your bed slightly, or use one firm pillow, so drainage has somewhere to go overnight. On waking, sit up for a minute before standing, and sip warm water rather than something cold — warmth and fluid thin thick secretions so they shift more easily. A few minutes of steam over a bowl, or a saline rinse with clean, previously boiled and cooled water, clears the passages far more kindly than forceful blowing; clear one nostril at a time, gently. Then a little slow breathing with a long, easy exhale before the day starts. As Jamnagar’s air turns dry and dusty after the monsoon, washing pillow covers weekly and keeping the bedroom free of settled dust often matters more than anything else you could add.

Your questions, answered
My ENT prescribed a nasal spray. Do I stop it?
No — continue exactly as prescribed. Sprays calm the swelling while natural care works on triggers and drainage; as things improve, your ENT decides any changes.
I’ve been told I have a deviated septum. Is natural care pointless?
Not at all — many people with septal deviation still improve substantially when swelling, mucus and triggers are corrected, since the passage widens as the lining calms. Where your ENT advises surgery, we support that decision and help before and after.
When does sinusitis need urgent medical care?
High fever with severe facial pain, swelling around the eyes, vision changes or a stiff neck need immediate medical attention — these can signal spreading infection. Please see a doctor first in such cases.
How long before my head feels clearer?
Steam, rinse and hydration routines often ease congestion within 2–3 weeks; the fuller test is the next allergy season arriving milder. Results vary from person to person.
